Values and Philosophy
We choose to investigate psychotherapy for one or many reasons... what is presently most important, is that we have arrived here and are now ready to begin our journey.

Throughout life, questions arise that may leave us wondering, "Is this where I am supposed to be in my life?" "Why am I not as happy as I'd like to be?" "Why do I repeat the same patterns in my relationships?" "If I know the causes of my anxiety and depression, why are they still here?" Whether you experience unsatisfying relationships, symptoms of depression, anxiety, or grief, effects from past trauma, or use unhealthy methods/substances for quick yet ineffective relief, psychotherapy is a holistic process that will help you transition into a healthier way of being.

I strongly believe that everyone has the capacity for, and deserves,... a full and satisfying life! When we are able to see, embrace, and accept our genuine self, life becomes easier, less frustrating, and more rewarding. What if someone told you that you had everything you needed to be an authentically beautiful person? Like a seed that is waiting to burst with the life teeming inside. Would you believe them? Why not? Have you been told otherwise? Have you learned otherwise? In our work, I will challenge you to question those beliefs and accept all parts of yourself, express your authentic voice, emotions, and thoughts, and move out of patterns that are comfortable but unhealthy. At times, I will invite you to use mindfulness techniques, body awareness, and breathing exercises in order to access different parts of yourself, step into the present, and see your challenges with a new lens.

Training and Experience
I received my M.A. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and received specialized training in affirmative practice with LGBTQ individuals and couples at Live Oak. My professional experience includes individual and couples therapy, and group yoga therapy with substance abuse and addictions, anxiety, depression, and complex trauma. I have been a certified yoga and meditation instructor for 7 years and currently own and teach at Urban Lotus Yoga. I promote body centered therapies through staff and student trainings focused on yoga, mindfulness, and psychotherapy.

Individual Psychotherapy
Together we will explore your goals, psychological and emotional patterns, and ways of being in the world in a safe and nurturing space. Through this work, we will also identify perceived barriers that are often due to years of learned experiences and survival strategies; they've worked in the past but maybe they're no longer necessary. It can be a surprisingly fulfilling and liberating process to learn that current patterns are obsolete and even harmful to personal growth and prosperity. The wisdom of the body will also supplement our process, as we understand that dis-integration of the body-mind relationship can produce an imbalance in the holistic expression of the self. In other words, when you experience emotional distress, your thoughts and physical body are most certainly affected. Thus all must be observed and a part of the process. Merely "talking" about anxiety may not relieve the physical symptoms as could a specific breathing practice.

Group Facilitation
I facilitated yoga therapy groups at Advocate Illinois Masonic Behavioral Health and Haymarket Center, working with addictions, anxiety, depression, and trauma symptoms. It is a welcomed challenge to adapt yoga philosophy and techniques to meet all minds and bodies! I always say that "Everyone can do yoga," and it's true. I have also developed and implemented yoga education curriculums for adolescent girls and children at an early childhood education program.

Professional Consultation
I provide experiential trainings in yoga, mindfulness, and psychotherapy for students, staff, and faculty who are seeking techniques and tools to use with clients. Sometimes, talk therapy just isn't enough to help our clients and students move into greater awareness and ultimately changed behaviors. Through my experience as a yoga student and teacher, I help others understand how to slow down, notice their bodies, and interpret these non verbal messages.

We are a group of psychotherapists and consultants who provide counseling and educational services that enhance the emotional and psychological well being of individuals, families, organizations and communities.

We bring to our work decades of experience in clinical practice. Our longevity and success derive from the inspirational courage of our clients, our deep commitment to learning, and a strength-based philosophy that fosters growth, strengthens identity, and promotes real and lasting change.

The following principles inform our work:
  • We recognize the uniqueness of each individual.
  • We are goal-oriented.
  • We employ a strength-based approach that begins by respecting the courage it takes to attempt change.
  • We recognize that real and lasting change requires action.
  • We understand, recognize, and incorporate the interrelated nature of mind, body, and brain.
  • We are systems-oriented.
  • We establish a partnership based on mutual accountability and trust.
  • We recognize the harm that comes from discrimination and stigma, and therefore practice psychotherapy, consultation, and training that affirms the value of difference.
